Hob salons raise £25,000 for hairraising
Fundraising fever gripped HOB Salons when they held a company-wide charity day that raised a mammoth £25,000 (and rising!) for the HAIRraising campaign.
From a live band entertaining the crowd in Camden, to celebrity guests including England football star Jermain Defoe to raffles and auctions, the teams from 18 HOB Salons really pulled out the stops to raise as much money as they could for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
The teams got into the charitable spirit by holding fun activities tailored to the children's charity theme, including donning fancy dress costumes such as pyjamas and school uniforms, playing games like 'guess the sweets in the jar', having bake sales and holding lucky dips.
Many team members came in on their day off to support the cause and the salons offered reduced-priced services throughout the day with all proceeds going toward the appeal.
The initiative has already raised in excess of £25,000 and the group will continue to encourage donations until the end of August 2010, with tins at the reception desks and raffle prizes up for grabs.
HOB's Creative Director, Akin Konizi is one of the campaign's co-founders and said: "I am so thrilled to see our salon teams unite and raise such an astounding amount for HAIRraising.
"Having visited the hospital myself, I have seen directly how this money will help and am very proud of the entire team for raising this outstanding total.
"The local businesses who have donated raffle prizes and food, plus our amazing clients who showed their support have been instrumental to us achieving such a great result for HAIRraising so well done to everyone involved!"
