Hji hearts . . . the la roux look
Elly Jackson, aka La Roux, is ruffling some feathers in the hair world with her futuristic, windswept style that flies in the face of femininity.
The look doesn't appeal to everyone but she's rocking her sideways quiff like no other. Robert Masciave from Metropolis Hairdressing says, "I'm loving La Roux's look, it's very forward for this season's 80s trend."
The In For The Kill singer stormed the charts recently with her catchy electo-pop style and falsetto warblings. Her colourful androgynous look is a world away from her famous mother Trudie Goodwin's look as Sergeant June Ackland in TV favourite The Bill.
Elly opts for an 80s-inspired mix of baggy suit jackets, stone-washed jeans, alien glitter make-up, pointy shoes and jumble-sale-chic accessories. Her hair, reminiscent of a Mr Whippy ice-cream and sometimes adorned with glitter, finishes off her eccentric image.
To create the style, Robert notes: "The sides and back are cropped loosely while the fringe and crown section is left longer for texture and versatile styling opportunities."
Despite La Roux being technically a duo which Elly fronts, the talented redhead has been grouped together with a new wave of solo female artists who also love to experiment with their hair including Little Boots, Lady Gaga and Ladyhawke.
Says Robert: "La Roux is another artist not afraid of looking edgy rather than pretty and I'm sure many will influenced by her daring look."
