Hji hearts... the celebrity cornrow comeback Cara Delevingne cornrowsPlaits and braids are always a summer favourite, but this season has seen a surprising return to that 90s boyband staple; cornrows. If you thought this style was impossible to pull off without looking like Monica from Friends - or more recently, Heidi Klum -  then think again; rows of scalp braids are set to be big this summer and this time they're surprisingly chic. It's perhaps no surprise to hear that catwalk queen Cara Delevingne spearheaded the revival, opting for an asymmetric scalp braid at the Met Ball this May. Not only was the look in keeping with the punk theme of the night, but it also suits Cara's tomboy styling perfectly. We spoke to Anne Veck, whose eponymous salons are in Oxford and Bicester, about making this look work for your clients. "Braids, plaits and twists are bang on-trend when it comes to Summer hairstyles. Cornrows in particular are a huge hit as they can give a hairstyle an easy, edgy upgrade without a permanent commitment. "Undercuts and shaved sides have been a huge hit lately and cornrows are a good alternative for someone who wants to embrace the trend without actually losing their hair. "When promoting this look as part of a styling service in salon you should sell it to your client as an on-trend look by offering a couple of cornrows on the side. This will recreate the popular celebrity looks much better than cornrows for the entire head. "As much as the trend is back, it’s now done tastefully and minimally which should transcend well to clients – the celeb influence should definitely make them less hesitant about giving it a try.” Cara might have kickstarted the revival, but she's not the only A-lister rocking 'rows on the red carpet.
