Finally, a celebrity is embracing the trend for curls, making them fresh, young and hip again.

Taylor Swift's cascading curls look fabulous whether worn up in a loose, sexy updo or worn down, flowing freely.

She also knows that nothing looks better on stage than a mop of curls.

Luke Walton, Rainbow Room International, Glasgow, is delighted that a star is flying the flag for curls. "For such a long time now, it has been viewed as an affliction for clients to have curly hair.

"At last, there's a role model for younger clients to look up to and stop straightening their hair within an inch of its life. Taylor has made curls cool again," he says.

Gone are the days of stiff, Bon Jovi poodle perms, now the look is softer, sexier and far prettier. Despite this, the look is still perfect for an on-stage, curls flying, rock-out session which Taylor sometimes opts for.

At red carpet events, Taylor often wears her hair up in styles that wouldn't look out of place in a romantic costume drama. Far from ageing the youthful singer, the style gives her a hint of elegance and brings out her beautiful bone structure.

Not only has the country-pop singer brought country music into the modern age, she's revived curls for the teen market so don't be surprised if teen clients are asking for tonged and curly styles over their staple, straight lengths in the coming year. 

Says Luke: "There's been a rise, albeit a slow one, in the request for perms.

"With the variety of styling tools available however, clients now looks for versatility, to wear their hair curly like Taylor one day, then sleek and smooth the next.

"Taylor's curls are elegant, but still youthful and add a quirkiness to her look, worn up or down."
