Hji hearts . . . curls at the nrj music awards

The NRJ Music Awards may have been overshadowed by the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which was held on the same night, but the event in Cannes saw some musical celebrities bucking the trend for subtle waves by embracing full-on curls.

Rihanna turned up wearing a bold mop of curls on top of her edgy, shaved style. She's transformed her style with colour in recent months but this curly addition to the look keeps her ahead of the copycats.

Dita Von Teese made an impact by not only appearing on the arm of cult designer Jean Paul Gaultier, but also wearing her ebony mane with fantastic retro, glamour waves.

And doing it for the boys, Mika was sporting his trademark curls with pride on the red carpet. He was also wearing a hairy bow tie and a shirt that looked like it might be made out of a doily for an individual slant on the look!

We've recently seen Taylor Swift flying the flag for teen curls and now other musicians, as well as music fan Dita, seem to be going for the curly leap. These stars have also shown that that curls don't have to be frumpy or frizzy.

With glitzy movie awards being the flavour of the month, tighter curls have been a rare sight on celebrities so it's interesting to see that there might be the ripples of a curly revolution happening in the music world.
