HJ Live Ireland 2018 was even bigger and better than last year to meet the growing demands of the Irish hair industry. Alongside the wide array of products, equipment and furniture on offer there were live hair demonstrations and competitions for delegates to enjoy.

Chris O’Riordan demonstrated a slick haircut that he described as: “relevant to what we do day-to-day in our shop.” He worked with both scissors and razors to achieve his modern look. Andrew Mulvenna and his team presented ‘Chicanery’ – a stunning trio of commercial looks using a variety of textiles to create incredible shapes.

Kieran O’Gorman showcased three sharp styles including a standout pink bowl cut bob. Electric London founder Mark Woolley and creative director Sean Dawson taught the crowd some tricks for editorial cutting and styling. The models were sourced from the crowds at the show to demonstrate a diverse range of styles on a variety of textures.

The Crow Street Collective founded by Darren Lacken highlighted the variety of styling options you can offer clients who want modern styling with a raw and urban edge. Then the Intercoiffure Guillame team took the stage and impressed the crowd with their take on avant garde. The team’s models showcased a variety of looks including a crown of hair and a bouffant featuring cable ties.

Frank Hackett demoed how barbering can be completely unisex by cutting a slick style onto a female model. He finished the look with a crimped quiff for a more feminine edge.

Marina Hayes and The Confession Box used stomping dancers to interpret a physical manifestation of their striking hair look. The hair collective spoke about the raw vibe they achieved through braiding, cutting and curling their model’s hair and the power of bringing the variety of looks together through dance.
