Have you heard about the new student barber of the year competition? Colleges, salons and training establishments are being invited to put forward promising students for the UK Student of the Year Competition. Hosted by the Hair and Barber Council, this year for the first time there will be two contests - for barbers as well as hairdressers. And great news, the competition deadline has now been extended! The competition will take be taking place on Sunday 7 October at Salon International at London ExCeL. All finalists will receive two complimentary entrance tickets, for themselves and their model, to compete live at Salon International. Excitingly the winner of the Student Barber of the Year accolade will win a day with Mike Taylor, owner of Mike Taylor Education and Member of the Barber Council. Mike says: "Competitions are a great way of showcasing your skills and talents. Entering Student Barber of the Year will not only give you a platform to shine but will also get you a full year's membership with the Hair and Barber Council. The Hair and Barber Council is something that I strongly believe in. By being part of it you are ensuring that our trade is taken seriously and that you are taken seriously as a professional barber with credentials and qualifications. With the hair and barbering industry being one of the biggest trades in the UK, it is important that you stand out from the crowd and lead the way. Taking part in competitions shows that you are willing to put yourself out there and be a leader in this exciting industry."
