Happy birthday, Barbra! As the diva celebrates her 72nd birthday, we take a look back at five of her most memorable 'dos from days gone by.

The milkmaid braid might have become a modern classic, but Babs was wearing it way before Alexa and co adopted it as a festival favourite. This oversized updo is woven through with ribbon to complement her gown and add a girlish touch to an otherwise imposing diva 'do.

It's not all about elaborate hair-up styles. This chic crop - or, let's face it, wig - shows a more classically sophisticated side to Streisand. Worn with plenty of volume and sleek head-hugging sides, this 60s look is sheer elegance.

Taking curls supersized, this Grecian-inspired do might be OTT but it manages to maintain an element of elegance too. Shot in profile,Babs's famous nose creates a balance for this perfectly-framed photo. Take away the headband (incidentally, v on trend for SS14) and cardigan, and this look could easily be a a grand Ancient Greek queen.

The volumised bob that Barbra wore to collect her Academy Award shows yet another side to the songstress. The cut is simple, classic and timeless to showcase a more serious side to her character. The styling, on the other hand, is pure 60s chic. Also; those nails!

The diva in repose! This natural look proves that the 1960s wasn't just about big hair and intricate barnets. With her long hair left to fall loose around her shoulders, Barbra's soft style oozes that 'quality' element that we've seen so much of on the catwalks - thick, natural, healthy lengths that require no more than a simple centre part.
