Hairdressing academy opens in chiswick with hsbc funding

The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy (LHAA) has opened a new academy in Chiswick, with the assistance of a £200,000 funding package from HSBC. The new academy will allow the business to continue to grow, offering over 150 new apprenticeships to budding hairdressers and barbers, and providing 77 new jobs for the local community.

The LHAA offers government-funded hairdressing and barbering apprenticeship training on the Intermediate Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2 Diploma) and the Advanced Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 Diploma). The business already has academies in Hertfordshire, Essex and Camden. With the new academy, LHAA expects to grow its current offering of 473 apprenticeships to over 620 across the four sites.

Stephen Carr, Area Director of Business Banking for HSBC in the Home Counties, said: “We have supported London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy since the opening of the business’s previous site in Camden. After the success of this site, the business decided to launch the Chiswick academy, which we were delighted to support with a strategic funding package.

“This latest deal has enabled the business to establish the new academy and fit it out to a high standard. The build programme included installing state of the art hairdressing and barbering equipment, upgrading the building’s electrical supply and plumbing, and branding the building. It has been a pleasure investing in the growth of such a successful educational business.”

Francine Luker, Managing Director and Co-owner of LHAA, explained: “With solid financial backing and support from HSBC, we were able to smoothly purchase our new academy in Chiswick, which opened in September. With the business continuing to grow, it was a natural process for us to open another academy and we hope future, award-winning hairdressers will start their career here.”

This £200,000 funding package came from HSBC’s £550 million commitment to SMEs in the West London region.
