Hairdressers campaign for vidal sassoon to star on new £20 note Hairdressers Campaign for Vidal Sassoon to Star on New £20 Note The search is on for a new face for the British £20 note, and hairdressers are campaigning for it to be the late, great Vidal Sassoon. The Bank of England has decided it's time to replace the existing design and has opened up the search for a new face to the public. Nominations are now open for anyone 'of historic significance from the visual arts'. The public can put forward anyone from the world of arts, which includes artists, fashion designers, craftspeople, architects, photographers and filmmakers. Ladbrokes has already drawn up a list of odds, with painter William Hogarth the current favourite at 4/1 and fashion designer Alexander McQueen at 8/1. Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney says: "Banknotes are the principal way the Bank of England engages with the public. These sparse pieces of paper from the 17th century have developed over the years to become the small works of art that are in everyone’s wallets. There are a wealth of individuals within the field of visual arts whose work shaped British thought, innovation, leadership, values and society and who continue to inspire people today." With that in mind, hairdressers are now campaigning for Vidal to be considered, as the man that changed the hairdressing industry forever. The nomination form is here; go ahead and give Vidal Sassoon a vote! BHAwidgetEnter_v2
