Harking back to the Hollywood golden era, vintage-inspired waves, curls and updos prove a failsafe option for red carpet glamour.
Warren Holmes, International Creative Director at Nicky Clarke Salons gives his verdict on retro hairstyles at the 2013 Golden Globes.
Amy Adams
"I like the simplicity of the neckline together with the drop earrings but I would have preferred the hair to been cleaner. The side bun and finger wave work well and make a strong impact but the execution could have been better. The tongs have been positioned wrongly and there is an overload of product on Amy's hair here."
Jessica Chastain
"Jessica got it just right last night - her 1940s waves are perfect. Taking the hair off her face and showing a good hairline opens up her eyes and captivating smile. She looks wicked here."

Zooey Deschanel
"Zooey kept with her trademark fringe and worked a simple ponytail, which, with her Oscar De La Renta gown, kept her look understated and fresh. The slight split in the fringe softened her appearance and while the pearls add to her kooky sense of style, I would have been tempted to leave them at home."
Adele
We asked our Facebook fans what they had to say about our own Brit aboard at the Golden Globes. Adele picked up an award for her Bond theme, but did her style win big with our followers? Here's what they had to say...
Michelle Dee: She is breathtaking xX
Lindsay Mikesell: It suits her but almost looks like a wig.
Sarah Elizabeth Jones: The proportions are decent, although a little looser near the nape would be my preference - or side pieces and side bangs.
Becki J Price-Breckel: I think it's just right for her; she can go big... The scale isn't right for everyone though.
Michelle Hutchinson: A teeny bit wide but nice all the same.
Cindy Harlow: Love it! She has a great Hairdresser! Never seen a bad hair day with her!
Benjamin-James Maxwell Nott: Perfect. The detail at the back was fantastic. Love the different shades of blonde too!
