Hair by jfk create a cool club vibe

Top-pic.jpgFifteen years after opening their first Hair by JFK salon in central Edinburgh, owners Faruk Mohammed and Karen Brown wanted to push their creativity when opening a second salon in the prime location of leafy Bruntsfield.

Once they'd sourced the perfect property in just the right location, they hired local interior designer Charlie Hearn, and gave him carte blanche to create an exciting, edgy salon.

With black the predominant colour, complemented by textured, tactile walls and coloured lighting, Charlie made a feature of the separate areas by giving each one a different coloured highlight. The main salon is black with red, the colour area is grey with green, and the wash area is black with red fabric glass.

Karen explains: "We deliberately made the salon look different in separate areas. The main salon has a clubby feel, the mezzanine is calm, and the wash area is sexy."
