Grammys 2012: stars prepare to party at pre-show events

As the great and the good of the music industry prepare to celebrate at the 2012 Grammys, nominated stars and celebrity friends got in the mood for the event at two pre-show parties - the ROC Nation Pre-Grammy Brunch at Soho House, Los Angeles and the Pre-Grammy Party Gala in Beverly Hills. 

Christina Milian attended the ROC Brunch, looking particularly dressed up for the daytime event in a cleavage-boosting cocktail dress. The singer opted for a sleek high ponytail, channeling this season's sporty trend and showing off her blingtastic earrings at the same time. 

The dress might be a bit much for a daytime brunch, but this smooth hair-up is the perfect complement to the look.

Corinne Bailey Rae was much more appropriately dressed in a pretty pale pink Louis Vuitton blouse with statement Broderie Anglaise collar. I love this top and I love Corinne's beautiful curls, but it does feel like there's a bit much going on here.

Katy Perry also attended the brunch, showing off her bright bue bob with an equally colourful outfit. Not many people could carry off blue hair with a neon pink and blue dress, but Katy manages it. Simple, sleek styling ensures that even though her hair colour is making it statement, it feels wearable.

Rihanna was one of many guests who attended the Pre-Grammy Gala yesterday evening, giving her new blonde shade an airing on the red carpet. Styled in tight curls with plenty of body, Rihanna's hair is still taking some getting used to but, as ever, it's making a serious style statement.

Kim Kardashian also showed off a slightly lighter shade, with her brunette locks a shade or two ligher than usual. Styled in classic Kim curls, slung over one shoulder, this look is nothing new for the socialite but when you look so glamorous, there's not much point in messing with the formula!

Kelly Rowland harked back to the classic disco era in shimmering sequins and a beautiful full head of tumbling curls. I absolutely adore this look on Kelly - if she looked this amazing at the pre-show party, I can't wait to see what she wears for the actual event tonight.

Ciara showed off a striking new dip-dyed blonde and brunette style at the gala, proving that the graduated colour trend isn't going anywhere just yet. I love the caramel blonde shade that's been achieved, even if the overall transition feels a tad harsh. It looks amazingly healthy though and that gorgeous apricot shade looks beautiful against Ciara's skintone.
