Goldwell spends an evening with hype coiffure

HJ's 2010 Afro Hairdressers of the Year Michelle Sultan and Kim Johnson from Hype Coiffure recently hosted an 'Evening with...' event at the Goldwell Academy in Mayfair, London.
The night was dedicated to creating celebrity-inspired party season looks on Afro hair, and saw Kim and Michelle colour and style eight models to reflect the most wanted A-list looks.
Inspirations came from Rihanna, Frankie Sandford and Beyoncé, with each look achieved with Goldwell colour - including a vibrant pink shade in the style of Nicki Minaj created with SilkLift and Elumen.
While demonstrating simple techniques live on stage, the award-winning duo imparted plenty of advice for working with Afro hair.
"A lot of people are scared of Afro hair," joked Michelle. "But they shouldn't be - it's only hair after all!"
Michelle and Kim also talked through their award-winning collections, and gave a great insight into how to work with Afro hair including colouring, cutting, photoshoots, hair pieces and even new drying techniques.
