- Salon Exterior. Firstly, you will want to start with the exterior so look at your signage. Is it looking tired? Does it need to be cleaned up? Are there any lights not working? Look at the posters that are in the window - have you got posters up that have been there for a long time? Do you have stickers cluttered in the door from associations that may be out of date? While it is very important that you keep these association stickers, they need to look up to date and atheistically pleasing. Consider either new signage or cleaning your current signage and get new bulbs fitted to add a bit of sparkle to the exterior salon. It will give the salon a new look and feel from the outside.
- Paint. You can never beat a lick of paint. Consider painting the entire salon and giving it a fresh look. Make sure you paint around the skirting boards and walls where people would walk regularly so it will become tired and show scuff marks and with all the products that are used in salons, it can sometimes wear the colour of the paint.
- New Furniture.New chairs and backwashes can really add a big difference to your salon and one of the things that does wear fairly quickly are the chairs as these are used the most. Although backwashes can be expensive, again, they can have the same sort of wear and tear. The way to save money on this is to have the chairs reupholstered but with many companies being very competitive - it may be worth replacing the chairs altogether.
- Going Vintage. You may have seen a trend in pubs, bars and restaurants of shabby chic mixed furniture so if buying new furniture like the chairs from major companies are too expensive, consider maybe getting chairs from vintage shops and having a vintage salon look. The only problem with going vintage is that you do really need to plan it as you don’t wasn’t a messy looking salon.
- Lighting. Lighting is so important in salons and with LED lights are both affordable and bright. You can choose whether you want warm LEDs or cool LEDS, both suitable for salons. Consider if you do get new lightening that you will definitely need to do the redecorating with the paint and will have to give the salon a complete spring clean so it looks clean, fresh and new.
