Gina conway completes epic cycle challenge for aveda

Aveda salon owner, Gina Conway, recently completed a mud-fuelled 30-mile cycle challenge to raise funds for WaterAid. One in ten people in across the globe don't have access to clean water, meaning more than 700,000 die annually from waterborne diseases. WaterAid is dedicated to working specifically on water, sanitation and hygiene and has been supported by Aveda UK for five years through their annual Earth Month campaign. Melissa Harris, head of HR and events at Gina Conway says: "We raise money for charity all year round but dedicate the entire month of April to fundraising for WaterAid UK. Although Earth Month is an Aveda-led event, we've taken the charity to our hearts, putting 110% into raising imperative funds." For her latest challenge, Gina raised £2,000 by cycling around the North Downs in an epic four-hour ride. Bad weather conditions did nothing to quash her enthusiasm, even as she cycled through almost a foot of mud, burst a tyre and climbed a total of 1,800' in altitude. With the help of donations, Gina has so far brought clean, safe water to 42 people during her challenge.
