Ghd style squad 2018/19 graduate and present on trend looks

The ghd Style Squad 2018/19 completed their year of training with a presentation evening. The team showcased their new-found skills to friends, family and members of the press.
The event, held at the ghd studio in Soho, showcased what the outgoing ghd style squad learned after their year of mentoring. The event was hosted by Lorna Baker, ghd education manager for UK & ROI, and ghd UK brand ambassador Zoe Irwin.
Zoe’s trend insight encouraged Conor McLaughlin and Karen Bradshaw to dig deeper with their research which helped them present a technique they called the Ophelia Wave. Inspired by Pre-Raphaelite art, the style fused classic curls with a more modern, airy finish.
For Libby Clark and Bekki Mooney’s work they referenced Zoe Irwin's technique of weaving fabrics into the hair for a diverse style called Material Chic. They contrasted a polished-sleek front section with multiple woven braids – a modern take on braiding.
The next hairdresser to showcase her work was Katy Burgess. She created a look called Eccentric Allure. Katy created wild texture by wrapping hair around a chopstick and pressing between a styler to create tight, dramatic curls. These were dressed out with a brush, before being completed with a pearl hair slide for an on-trend finish.
Patrick Wilson, a ghd creative artist, also inspired a look called Textured Dynasty. His fresh celebrity hairstyles for Coachella and trend-led braiding techniques influenced Tom Beale-Burchell and Bea Friend’s festival-inspired style. The look combined crimped texture, braiding, hair charms and sewing with neon threads.
Zoe Irwin’s work with diverse fabrics also inspired Izzy Twombley and Mason Brock's final presentation. Their Tie It Up look involved binding a ponytail with a length of fabric, in a technique which required two pairs of hands. The ponytail was then adapted into a chic chignon.
