Learn how to copy this dramatic style from
the VT Academy Northern Lights Collection in our easy to follow vintage hair roll tutorial.
You will need:
- comb,
- backcombing brush
- crimping iron
- hair grips
- hairspray

1. Prep hair with mousse and blow-dry in to create body and grip. Use a crimping iron to crimp the hair throughout in small sections. Section out a triangle from the hairline to the crown with a vertical parting down the back of the head.

3. Create a base by criss-crossing pins down the parting.

4. Repeat on the opposite of the parting, working from crown to hairline.

5. Spray the entire look with hairspray to create a malleable texture to the hair.

6. Brush hair back from the hairline towards the back of the head, using a firm dressing brush and keeping hair tight to the head.

7. Roll hair back from one section in a vertical roll, clamping with pins once you reach the base guideline at the back of the head.

8. Repeat on the other side.

9. Secure both rolls in place with pins, bringing both sides together.

10. Release the front triangular section of hair and backcomb.

11. Secure the entire front section together at the very ends and pull back into a quiff, curving slightly.

12. Pin in place with invisible grips.

12. The finished look.
