She was a beautiful blonde in
Cinderella, but now Lily James has switched her fairytale colour for something fresher; a glossy brunette shade and a choppy long bob.
We spoke to HJ's Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year,
Clayde Baumann, to find out how he'd tackle the transformation.
"Lily James recently traded in her
bronde tresses for a shaggy brunette bob and I love it. The solid perimeter has made the hair look thicker and the rich, global, brunette tone has added much needed luster and shine. For some very basic reasons it's looks healthier and aesthetically more beautiful. Although this is a very popular course of action at the end of summer and the beginning of winter, there are benefits to deepening your clients hair while the summer sun is still out, namely that is can give greater colour longevity when sun exposure can really pull colour out fast.
"Achieving a long lasting brunette is down to ensuring a good 'Colour-In' procedure and this can mean anything from semi-permanent, ammonia free products to textbook pre-pigmentation service before applying a permanent tint. Depending on your chosen course of action, always remember that a good follow up appointment is probably a good idea to ensure the Colour stays fast and good home care. Cover all your bases and your clients to ensure the perfect appointment."
"Lock that colour in with powerful anti-oxidants found in colour-protecting home care. One of my hero products for this is ColorSave Emulsion from Wella SP."
