Sport? What sport?! The highlight of the 2015 Superbowl for us had to be Katy Perry's super-swingy, super-shiny, super-sized ponytail.
Stylist Clyde Haygood spilled the beans to People about how he got the look using products from KMS California.
"Katy specifically asked for the perkiest pony you've ever seen," Clyde told People in an exclusive interview - and what could be more appropriate than this cheery style for the most American of sporting events?
Here's how he got the look:
1. The ponytail was constructed using a human hair Velcro pony with hair in various lengths sewn onto the inside and outside for added volume. With the added weight, Clyde sewed an elastic band to the base on the inside of the pony to make it more comfortable and put a toggle closure to make the ponytail retractable and actually open and close around Katy's own hair.
2. To set the ponytail, Clyde took five 3" sections and curled them with a 2" iron to create an S-shaped wave. Each section was sprayed with KMS California FREESHAPE 2-in-1 Styling and Finishing Spray before curling. Clyde opted for this spray as it's heat activated and perfect to use with irons for setting dry hair. It also brushed out beautifully giving him the bounce he wanted for the performance.
3. Next, Clyde worked on slicking Katy's own hair back with KMS California HAIRSTAY Styling Gel, which has impeccable hold glass-like shine.
4. Once the ponytail was attached Clyde warmed a small amount of KMS California HAIRPLAY Gel Wax between his hands and coated Katy's pony to tame any flyaways and give added support to the style. Clyde likes this product because it has the hold of a gel, yet has flexibility and lets hair move naturally.
