Get the look: cannes film festival hair

We asked top stylists how to recreate some of the standout looks from The Great Gatsby premiere at the Cannes Film Festival...
NICOLE KIDMAN
"This super modern look shows how more avant garde styles can translate to the red carpet. To recreate on a client, leave the top section of the hair loose and using some gel smooth the section underneath and pin tightly in the middle of the head. Back comb the top section and with lots of hairspray smooth it down the centre of the head, securing with pins underneath. Finish with a clear band at the nape of the neck and straighten the tail for a sleek finish."

LANA DEL RAY
"Lana Del Ray's old school Hollywood waves are a red carpet fail safe. Recreate by curling hair with the new GHD eclipse, pinning until cool and then brushing out towards the face with a soft bristle brush. This style works best on hair that's below shoulder length, so your musthave product for this look is an add in hair piece on a wire, such as Effortless Extensions - just slip it on and heat style for perfect curls."

FRIEDA PINTO
"Frieda Pinto's romantic braided hairstyle is deceptively easy to recreate. The key here is texture, so firstly spray hair with Sebastian Volupt Spray. Then make a centre parting and plait each section. Pull each plait forward to the opposite side of the head so they cross each other and pin. Pull out bits of hair for the plaits so it looks a bit undone and finish with hairspray."
