First impressions of salon international

As a newcomer to the industry, this is my first time at Salon International and so far all I can say is WOW!!! There really is so much going on. In the space of a thirty second wander and a pirouette or two, I've been able to catch a glance of demos on the Tigi, Great Lengths and Habia stands - more specifics to follow later. I've already clocked the back massagers and earmarked them for a visit on Monday afternoon! To get me straight into the swing of things, I checked out the first of the Lee Stafford Seminars. Joined by his Art Team - Stacey Broughton, the man he described as 'God', and Steve Turner - they demontrated styles contrasting jet black and stark white to eye-catching effect. Lee began with a story of how his career started. After cutting hair in his dining room, his Dad told him it was time to open a salon, but as he had no formal training, the panic set in. To fill in the gaps in his education, he started to attend every show, seminar, course and demonstration he could. To make the most of the experience, he'd always ask loads of questions and it proved invaluable. Therefore he advises anyone else attending events to do the same thing and ask anything you don't understand or want to know more about. It's a piece of advice well worth sticking to... On that note, if you have any questions on what's going on at Salon, drop me a line in the comments section below and I'll do my best to answer it. More from me later, I'm off to see Andrew Barton - on his wheelchair - and the Saks Art Team presenting their new collection shortly...
