Everyone wants a 'posh' this summer - louis

August is a really strange time of year in the salon. Not only are lots of staff away on holiday, but lots of the clients seem to be too. If you add in the fact I don't have my usual Monday training sessions and the whole thing is a hell of a lot quieter than usual.That does mean it's a great time for me to watch what is going on around me, help out as much as I possibly can and learn from the senior staff.At the moment, the main thing I am seeing is lots of people going for the summer's key trends: really blonde and quite short.It's funny to see the difference between people who just have to have the season's Posh-inspired look and those who need a little more persuasion and take it in gradual steps.

There's one thing they all have in common though: they love the finished look. I can completely understand why; it is very cool! It's quite high maintenance, but the great thing about it is that it is versatile and can be worn funky one day and conservatively the next.Another thing we see throughout the year, but particularly in the summer, is bridal parties. I love it when we have a bridal party in. The salon is always totally mad and even though everyone is a bit nervous and a bit on edge it's always good fun.It's a great opportunity for me to help out as everyone is so busy that they need me to do tasks like starting to curl hair and pinning bits up. Whatever the occasion, I love watching people put hair up or better still doing it myself. As I've said before, my favourite part of hairdressing is finishing and having the 'wow factor' when you complete a look and you really get that when you put hair up. I've spent quite a bit of time practising on the girls in the salon and on modelling dolls (check out the pics below...)and it's something I hope to do a lot more of as my career progresses.
