Kris Jenner is known for a few things: being the mother of reality TVs first family, being one of the most successful ‘momagers’ to date, and her classic pixie crop. However, the latter is no longer true. Sort of. Ladies and gentleman, Kris Jenner has debuted a new hairstyle.
Kris recently traded her pixie for a 'bixie' – a bob meets pixie cut – and debuted the new ‘do in the trailer for season two of The Kardashians. Whilst not the most drastic of changes, for someone that has stuck to one style for such a long time, it’s best to start small.

“As hairdressers, it is our job to know the latest trends, to understand what would suit our clients and to ensure our clients are always looking and feeling their best – even if that means suggesting they change their look completely!” says Farah Naz, Schwarzkopf Professional Collective member and salon owner at Farah Naz Hairdressing. She adds: “If you want to encourage your client to try a new hairstyle, start the conversation! Being excited about your client’s hair journey and suggesting changes shows how invested you are and will help them to get excited too.
“If they don’t want to go straight in for a dramatic change, suggest they tweak it over time and plan out the appointments – this will help you to get them all-important appointments booked in but also give your client something to look forward to.
“It is always worth reminding clients that professional products are best for looking after their brand-new look – after all, why invest all that time and money to fall at the last hurdle!”
Meanwhile, Jaye Mac, L’Oréal Professionnel partner from Linton & Mac, Aberdeen, shares: "A good relationship with your client helps with presenting subtle ways during a consultation for a change to be introduced for their next visit. This gives them time and space to think over what they’d like.
“Keeping the options simple to encourage their confidence is the best way to go. If you’re looking to put a spin on someone’s favourite style, keep it simple. Effective styling like layers, soft bangs and face frames can make all the difference without too much effort. Introducing seasonal colour to their look keeps it fresh and exciting too. L’Oréal Professionnel Dia Richesse colours are great for adding a twist to a signature style as it’s totally customisable so you can create something bespoke for their hair.”
Rob Orr, L’Oreal Professionnel partner at Charlie Miller, Edinburgh, also has a clever method to help clients transition into a new hairstyle:"I often suggest a different blow dry style. That way they can see how they feel about wearing their hair differently and grow confident with a new look that isn’t a drastic change, as well as finding out what their friends/partner think.
"When moving a client towards something different with their hairstyle I aim to keep them confident with the change, so always keep at least one thing the same. It can be anything from the same amount of volume in the blow dry to keeping the fringe the same. That way they are still in their comfort zone whilst adjusting to the changed elements in their new look."
No matter your client's current cut, if they're looking to tip-toe towards a new style, there's countless methods to help you succeed.
