Elan salon wins big at business green leaders awards Elan Salon Wins Big at Business Green Leaders Awards Elan salon has proven its eco credentials by beating off competition from the big blue-chip brands to win at the Business Green Leaders Awards. The Inveurie salon pipped entries by Liverpool FC and The Carbon Trust to take the top environmental accolade, Energy Efficiency Project of the Year. In a glittering ceremony attended by more than 550 industry leaders, politicians and business thinkers, Elan scooped the trophy for the range of innovative measures they have implemented in their salon, the massive reductions in environmental impacts and the significant business savings achieved as a result. Salon owner Lorna Milton commented:
You don’t have to be big to think big and make a real difference. What we have achieved here is amazing for us as we we’re competing with many conglomerates that have huge resources to invest in green initiatives. But it should be a wakeup call for the hairdressing industry to really take ‘green’ seriously and start focussing more on doing business in a more sustainable way. When you’re competing with companies like O2, the Co-op and other giants of British industry, and with over 260 entries, it’s incredible to think a family business like Élan can be recognised for its innovative approach and achievements in terms of running a sustainable salon business. It’s an honour and proves than being considerate towards the environment is not a phase. It’s great for business and the hairdressing industry has a real opportunity to lead.
