Since commenting on the the Joanna Mastoianni show at New York Fashion Week, I have spoken to Emiliano Vitale from e Salon, Australia, who assisted Leon Gorman backstage. "The key was to keep it in the tradition of Lillian Bassman and to work on was most suitable for our model," he explains. Here he describes how to get the look:

1: Backcomb the shape throughout the whole head. Then create a frenchroll in the back, clean but not overyly tidy.

2 Once the shape is created through the front is either brought back via the sides, or brought back via the top. Wrap a thick elasticated band through the front, spray it and allowed that to set whilst in make up. Just before going on the bands are taken out and accessories placed in.

3 The hair is tied into a tight, clean ponytail on top and then twisted so it isnice and neat and taken into a top knot. A hair net is then placed over all top knots.
