Dress necklines and hairstyles: which is best? Dress Necklines and Hairstyles: Which is Best? Matching dress necklines and hairstyles is an art form, but one which is essential for any stylist specialising in hair-up or bridal work. With wedding season upon us, and prom night bigger than ever, we spoke to the Group Momentum Creative Team to find out which hairstyle works best for some of the most popular dress necklines. Hairstyle for strapless dress - with text Strapless Wear your hair back to complement the strapless neckline. This hairstyle will give you a smooth flowing silhouette and elongate your neck. Hairstyle for illusion neckline dress - with text Illusion An elegant up do will showcase the detail of an illusion neckline really well but try to keep it simple. The last thing you want is a fussy up do and a detailed neckline! asymmetric Asymmetric Sweep your hair to the opposite side of your asymmetric neckline, maybe with a fishtail plait. This will balance your style. Hairstyle for boat neck dress - with text Boat Updos will complement this neckline well. Creating height within your hair will elongate your body as well. Try neat chignons and bouffants. Hairstyle for square neck dress - with text Square A gently textured updo, set low or high, will most likely be the best look for this neckline. Hairstyle for v neck dress with sleeves - with text V neck with sleeves Wear your hair down, however be sure it doesn’t hide too much of the décolletage. Think about a style that rests on the back versus a hairstyle that might fall to the front. Hairstyle for draped neckline dress - with text Grecian Soft tumbling curls scooped to the back of the head to accentuate the shape of the soft material style will be perfect for this style. Hairstyle for halter neck dress - with text Halter neck It's important to keep the style swept higher on the head. For a natural look, try a sleek smooth up-style. Or, for a slightly bolder look, add some texture in the form of an undone braid or full curls. Hairstyle for high neck dress - with text High neck We like to keep hair away from your shoulders with this style, so a glamourous updo would work best as having your hair down will be too overwhelming.
