Don't talk to me about tweed

toad.bmpTweed and camel are going to be big in men's fashion this Autumn/Winter. This concerns me. Take tweed - granted, if you're 19 years' old, six foot two, and 10 and a half stone it's possible to carry it off with a big dash or irony.

If, on the other hand, you are 40-something,  five 10, and 13 stone, you're liable to look like Toad of Toad Hall. (I fall into the latter category - don't be fooled by the picture you see above this blog, it's all smoke and mirrors).

And sure, those young, skinny kids can waft around in knee-length camel coats, giving them that classic look with a modern twist, but I'd just look like... well, who here remembers Arthur Daley? (No-one young enough to carry off a camel coat, that's for certain!)

Of course there's one accessory guaranteed to help carry off camel or tweed - an on-trend haircut. Complete a tweed ensemble with a cool quiff or a military short back and sides with loads of length and texture on top and you'll just scream modern-day irony.

Unless you're me. Then you just look like Toad of Toad Hall with a great haircut.

(The man on the right is not Arthur Daley)
