Divas-salon.jpgGenerous staff at Divas hair salon, Colchester, gave up a Sunday to offer a day of half-price haircuts as part of the HAIRraising campaign.

Celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford had asked Divas' owner Michelle Sadler to support the campaign, which aims to raise one million pounds for Great Ormond Street hospital, and she decided to donate a day's takings to the cause.

The team gave their full backing to the idea and together they managed to raise more than £350 for HAIRraising.

Says Michelle: "I was shocked when Lee Stafford phoned me personally to ask if Divas would take part and help the campaign.

"Initially they asked for a £1 voluntary donation from each client but it is such an amazing charity, I thought why not do a bit more and offer whole day's takings?

"All my staff happily offered to give up their Sunday and volunteer their services for free on a day they would not usually have to work and we raised more than £350. It was such a success that we will be running more fundraising events throughout the summer."
