Dementia friendly salon shortlisted for cardiff life award

Simon Constantinou at O.Constantinou & Sons has been shortlisted for the Cardiff Life Award for Hair & Beauty on 31 March 2022 at Cardiff City Hall. Having previously won this award in 2019, Simon Constantinou is delighted to have been shortlisted for this award again this year. The Cardiff Life Awards judges commented: “This longstanding salon truly is a one-stop shop for hair and beauty. Continuously innovating and trying new things whilst keeping its distinctive community feel.” Other industry awards received by O.Constantinou & Sons include World champions, British champions and Welsh Bridal champions, as well as the Biz Growth Wales Award for ‘Health, Beauty & Wellness’, the Cardiff Life Award for ‘Hair & Beauty’ and the ‘Gold Crown Award’ as a trusted wig fitter for the charity, Little Princess Trust. Over the last 18 months, O.Constantinou & Sons worked with Marie Curie, who support businesses across Cardiff in becoming Dementia Friendly, as part of the Dementia Friendly Communities initiative created by Alzheimer’s Society. Simon Constantinou and the team were the first business in Cardiff to successfully pledge to be Dementia Friendly under the Dementia Friends Communities scheme. Pledging to continue learning and making valuable changes to the salon to help aid clients to live well with Dementia. “We are incredibly proud of our resilient and supportive team, and despite dealing with closures and restrictions, we were able to turn a profit in 2021 and gain the Dementia Friendly Business status. Plans for 2022 include a new website and the expansion of our wigs and hairpiece area of business.
