What are sulphate-free shampoos and how do they work?

Sulphates can strip some moisture from the scalp and strands, meaning they can be particularly bad news for salon coloured hair. The cleansing agent can strip the artificial pigments from the hair fibre, causing fading and loss of vibrancy. A sulphate-free shampoo will not strip the hair of moisture, and won't cause coloured hair to fade as quickly. Due to their formulas, the shampoos will foam less. You will notice that if hair is dirtier, the first time you shampoo you won’t get that much foam because the surfactant ingredients are busy cleaning the hair – not foaming. Once the hair is cleaner, more foam will appear. A useful tip to make the shampoo work even better is to ensure your clients' hair is sopping wet when applying the product. Massage the shampoo on the scalp and roots and also start applying shampoo from the nape area up. Add a bit more water with your palms for more lather. we/do professional sulphate-free shampoo

Switching to a sulphate-free shampoo from weDO/

When changing to a shampoo with natural origin ingredients and no sulphates your clients' hair might feel somewhat different after the first few washes. That’s because the scalp and the hair need to adjust to the different types of ingredients. It's essential to educate them about this process. Sulphates strip the natural oils from the hair and scalp, so scalp and hair has to work harder to maintain the balance. It’s also important to note that when you remove sulphates from a haircare regime,  hair might be oilier for a while until it adapts to the new routine.   This article is sponsored by weDo/ by Wella Professionals.
