They're more used to strutting down the runway than the red carpet, but at the Costume Institute Gala 2011 it was model mayhem. As well as big names like Naomi Campbell and Gisele, fashion favourites including Jessica Stam and Crystal Renn joined in the fun at fashion's biggest night out.

Both Jessica Stam and Shalom Harlow opted for curly styles, pinned back from the face for a flattering finish. Stam looks angelic with tumbling blonde ringlets and a pink satin princess dress, while iconic 90s supermodel Shalom oozed vintage couture in a Marchesa dress and vintage hairpin.

Model Crystal Renn looked sensational with a sculpted updo, which combined a chignon with a large quiff for a style which appeared different from every angle. A high gloss, heavily-lacquered finish completed this dramatic 'do.

Top knots and buns continue to be a red carpet hit as well as a runway favourite, so it was no surprise to see both Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes opting for ballerina updos. Miranda opted for a style low on the nape, while Doutzen went up and away with a textured style which showed off her stunning sculpted cheekbones.

Both Joy Bryant and Bar Refaeli opted for softly sculpted styles, with voluminous shapes worn high on the head. Joy complemented her baby pink dress with a soft updo, complete with loose curls while Bar kept her hair completely up in a vintage-inspired chignon which showed off her striking earrings.
