The bun has well and truly become a red carpet favourite over the past couple of seasons - revamped for a new generation, this classic style's popularity lies no doubt in its ability to be worn in a wide variety of ways. Here are some of our favourite knotted looks from last night's Costume Institute Gala...
Taylor Swift's tumbling curls are her trademark, so it's always good to see her wearing them up and off her face for something a bit different. This low, knotted style still shows off the texture of her locks, but transforms her look in to something much more mature. Smoky eyes and blood red lips complete the style.
Twilight star Ashley Greene also opted for a low, knotted style worn on one side. Her delicate bun features intricately woven tendrils - and also shows off those dramatic sparkling earrings.
Jennifer Lopez and Christina Ricci also opted for top knot styles, combining slicked-back texture with a high position for an on-trend finish.
