Conversations on colour: tej sami Conversations on Colour Tej Sami Tej Sami is colour director at the Daniel Galvin salon in London and an integral member of the salon's creative team. Tej is also a member of the L’Oreal Professionnel 20:20 Colour Collective; an elite group of colourists from across the UK. Here, we find out more about her life in colour. What do you love most about being a colourist? I never get bored of my job. Every day is different and I love getting to know people from all walks of life. I also really value transforming people's looks and getting to be creative. What do you think are the biggest challenges facing professional colourists in 2015? Being one step ahead of everyone else. What do you think is the most exciting ‎thing about being a colourist in 2015? I think in 2015, people are more willing to take risks with their hair and try new things. What colour trend or technique are you most excited about for 2015? It's not so much about getting excited about the new techniques for me, it's more just the excitement of seeing the client's reaction to their new look. What one piece of advice would you give to trainee colourists ‎who would love to be where you are now? I would advise them to be ballsy! Don't be afraid to make mistakes, as that is how you learn. Don't be afraid to be creative and make suggestions either. Clients like change and for you to encourage them to take risks. Widget_HJ
