Clynol's weekend of excellence

The exclusive Lowry Hotel in Manchester was the setting for the Clynol Weekend of Excellence. Delegates were invited to a drinks reception before heading to the Grand Ballroom for speeches and a spectacular catwalk show.

Clynolteamsmall.jpgLois Aspinall, marketing manager, introduced Tamara Donaldson, brand manager-styling, to the stage who spoke about the new ranges from Clynol, these included Play With Me, a range aimed at 18-34 year olds that has an emphasis on 'fun'.

The Protege Team then took to the stage to show off their latest latest looks including baby blonde, bobbed glamour curls, a copper 'mullet' style teamed with a fringe and a chocolate brown side-sweep. The team confidently talked through their styles and impressed onlookers.

sharonpeakesmall.jpgAfter a short break, Colin Sillery, managing director, enthusiastically entered the stage. As he is based in America, he compared the difference in attitudes between the two countries, believing that Britain should be more positive in order to move forward.

When the serious side of proceedings came to an end, the second slice of creativity got going as top hairdressers were invited to the stage individually to create stunning looks. Desmond Murray didn't disappoint, creating a gorgeous long hair updo, he used a curling iron to create ridges along the length of the hair which was backcombed and clipped up to the side.

Desmond said, "It's important that hair isn't freshly washed if you're creating a big updo and by adding hair pieces, you can add drama to the effect." Other styles created included an 80's inspired updo, incorporating a pearl necklace accessory by  Charlotte Murray, gorgeous blonde Grecian curls from Luke Walton and a plaited, backcombed 'do from Sharon Peake.

Clynol Creative+BusinessAwardWinnerssmall.jpgThe impressive catwalk demonstrations finished with a double look from Tracey Hayes and Tim Hartley - a blonde, edgy crop with feminine curls on top and a black fringe with violet accents teamed with backcombed curls to the side.

The evening had more glitz in store for delegates with a plush sit-down dinner and awards ceremony. The best salon performances from the last year were rewarded with vouchers, a trophy and a bottle of champagne.

 And the winners were....
