Clynol protoge team chosen

After a tough application process that made the Britain's Got Talent auditions seem like a walk in the park, the Clynol Protege team has been chosen.

Some 72 hopefuls submitted applications to explain why they thought they should be part of the team. These were narrowed down to 28 who were invited to live auditions where they had to prove their skills to a panel of judges.

Under the watchful eye of Ruth Hunsley, deputy editor of HJ, hairdressing business mentor Rachel Gould, creative and business hairdressing expert John Carne and public relations expert Louise Wood, the 28 were tasked with cutting and styling a model. They then had to present the model, as well as their moodboard to the judges and fend off their questions.

And the final six were:

  • Stuart Dalton - Klickers, Rugby
  • Emma Bedwell - Hoop Haircutters, Clacton-on-Sea
  • Kerry Davies - Ego Hair & Beauty, Colchester
  • Rebecca Allen - Ego Hair & Beauty, Colchester
  • Laura Aron - Stephen James, Morecambe
  • Amy Henesy - Hairclubin', Westcliffe-on-Sea

Louise Wood, who helped to select the team said: "It's amazing that young people who have, for the most part, not been involved with presentation work on this level and certainly not in front of industry specialists have the maturity and self-belief to dig deep and really perform.

"We were so impressed with the self-assured way in which almost everyone presented their work, they really did themselves justice and there was so much potential."
