Darren Fowler and Loretta Karam-Whalley from Clipso London styled the hair for the award-winning actress Ruth Wilson at the 2012 Olivier Awards, which were held at the Royal Opera House in London. Ruth was named 'Best Actress' at the award ceremony for her title role in Anna Christie.

Darren said: "Ruth looked feminine, effortlessly cool and individual in her McQueen outfit and we wanted to create a hairstyle to match.

"We created the look by prepping Ruth's hair with Shu Uemura's Ample Angora, which is a volumising light foam. We worked this through her hair and then blow-dried it in, creating volume and texture.

"Once dry, we used a tong to curl the hair all over using L'Oréal Professionnel Hot Style Constructor to protect. The hair was curled to the root area, then clipped into barrel curls and left to set."

"When all of the hair had cooled, we brushed out the barrel curls and using a large comb created a loose Marcel wave, clipping and spraying into place. We then took the top section of hair and softly backcombed the root area, giving natural height to the look. We then twisted and clipped the hair softly into place keeping a raised feeling on top.

"L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Play Ball Wax Smoothie was then scrunched into the back to create movement and volume. Loose hair was left out on the opposite side of Ruth's face to soften the look then finally we sprayed and scrunched the hair with Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer to keep the hair in place all night. The look was finished with silver clips which were placed at the side to add to the stunning Marcel wave."
