With wedding season fast approaching and race days taking place across the country, there's never been a better time to brush up on the right hairstyles to wear with hats.
While your hairdressing creativity should guide the way, there's nothing wrong with a few starting points to ensure your clients rock hat hair of the very best variety.
Celebrity hairdresser Paul Edmonds shares his dos and don'ts...
Away from the face
Hair normally looks better worn back and away from the face, especially if your hat has a large brim.Low ponytail
If your client's hair is long and they want a simple quick do, try putting the hair in a low ponytail. Split the hair behind the band down the middle and pass the tail through itself and pull tight to get a soft, rolled up look.Long hair
Mid- to long-length hair can also be plaited and finished with a binding of ribbon for a chic appearance.Short hair
If clients have shorter hair, tuck the sides back or leave them out until the hat is on and then fold them back and grip under the hat.Practice makes perfect
If you've got a really big event coming up, make sure you have a run through with your hat before the big occasion as panic does not make for a great style.
