Cheryl v dannii hair-off: cheryl needs to up her game

When I decided to blog about Cheryl and Dannii's X Factor hairstyles, I thought it was a perfect subject: two fashionistas flexing their stylish muscles and pushing the boundaries each week.
The problem is that it is fast turning into a one horse race because 'I gotta tell you' (TM Simon Cowell) Cheryl really needs to up her game.
So far we've seen the ponytail with height through the crown, the fishtail plait with height through the crown and the hair down with loose waves and plenty of root lift.
Yes, there's been a change of colour, but only to the red that she has experimented with in the past. Where are the playful textures that are so hot this season or the faux bobs and oversized buns I was expecting?
The show's hair stylists are doing a remarkable job with her protege Rebecca, so why doesn"t she turn to them to help mix up her own look a little?
In contrast, week four has seen Dannii rock an edgy quiff. It's a look that she carried off with aplomb last year and you could tell from her confident performance that she knew how good she looked.
Week four verdict: Dannii by a very stylish mile. Come on Cheryl give me something new to write about, please.
