The puritanical trend is one of this season's trickier trends to translate from the catwalk to the red carpet - with natural styling, a simple centre parting and little volume or movement, it's an organic look about as far removed from glossy blow-dries as it's possible to get.

Both Chloe Sevigny and Ashley Greene trialled the trend at last night's CFDA Awards, although with a little tweaking to make the look slightly more glam.

Chloe's naturally styled and coloured locks are centre-parted and simply put up, matching her usual low-maintenance look.

Ashley's straight, centre-parted locks are infinitely more glossy and obviously styled, but the natural finish has a hint of 1970s-simplicity - inspired by one this season's style icons, the effortless Ali McGraw.
