Novelty hats were the order of the day at the NSPCC Surrealist Ball hosted by Harper's Bazaar last night.

Fashion designer Lulu Guinness made a statement in a couture blue and green bird hat - complete with her trademark red lips and a matching bag from her own label.

Also opting for an unusual piece of headgear, supermodel Natalia Vodianova wore a spotted grey glove headpiece which was padded out to create the illusion of a hand. Reminds me of this amazing look from the Alternative Hair Show 2010!

Paloma Faith provided the entertainment for the evening - and with her love of unusual accessories and quirky headgear she fitted right in with the colourful crowd.

For her performance, Paloma wore a red lace catsuit with matching knotted hair bow - who says redheads can't wear red?

Spanish actress and personality Rossy de Palma also opted for red - with a sparkling sequinned heel on her head.
