New year, new hair? This seems to be the case for an array of celebrities, who have all been taking to social media to share their transformations of 2023. With many consumers being influenced by the online lives of others, we caught up with some pros to hear their thoughts on these celebrity hair transformations...
Lily Allen
The singer recently debuted a new look following her winter vacation to Saint Barts - and fans are loving the look. Speaking to Jo Robertson, Educational Director at Wonderful Brands, she shared: "I love this colour. Like any colour change the key to achieving a consistent result is the quality of the hair. This is not a quick transition, this colour needed quality products with strengthening ingredients built-in to achieve this healthy-looking colour. My advice to achieve this is when lifting the natural hair, don’t push it too quick. Embracing the most in demand cut right now, the star traded in her style for the classic bob. We asked Gill Berry, from the JOICO European Design Team, what she thought of the shift: "Doesn’t Idina look absolutely fabulous – I am absolutely loving her new look. As a lover of both texture in the hair and shorter looks, she is certainly on trend for 2023. "Going for a much shorter style than usual, this look works so incredibly well with her face shape. A one length textured bob, it frames the face and is a real head turner. The addition of beautiful waves/curls throughout modernises the look and results in a very trendy cut."
Hailey Bieber
Another star to jump aboard the bob bus is Hailey Bieber. Currently one of the most talked about models on the scene and married to popstar Justin Bieber, Hailey has a lot of influence online, which may prompt many millennial and Gen Z fans alike to copy the cut. Session Stylist Darrel Starkey shared: "I am living for Hailey’s new shorter style – it is absolutely gorgeous and fits so well with her overall vibe at the moment. Hailey is never afraid to try any look and by opting for a shorter, more drastic cut this has played in her favour. "Cutting the hair short with a very blunt style can often be very daunting and also very shocking. However, the hair has been cut to be worn relaxed with natural texture, which gives the essence of thickness, but can be styled smooth and sleek for a very sophisticated feel. When cutting this look, it is important to keep it one length – this is vital."
Kyle Richards
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star decided that January was the perfect time for a fresh new look, unveiling a lighter new look on social media. Ainsley Gray from F&M Hairdressing commented: "I am a huge fan of Kyle’s new look – she looks fantastic and so youthful. Kyle has always been known for her darker locks, opting for a deep brunette or in some cases jet black, so to see her lighten up as we approach spring is a joy. The addition of some caramel and honey tones throughout have added a multidimensional feel to her look and really brightens her complexion. As always she has kept the length long allowing her to style in a multitude of ways."
