Celebrities do coachella: but how's the hair looking?

Coachella is known as being America's most celeb-friendly festival and, as such, the crowd is usually about 90% Hollywood types embracing the chance to wear braids and a poncho and lie around in the sun drinking beer.
And why not?
We love nothing more than perusing Instagram over Coachella weekend, getting a feel for who's wearing what - and that goes for their hair too. Not for these celebrities the world of dry shampoo and a pocket mirror. Think Aistream trailers, full beauty teams and red-carpet-worthy-but-kinda-boho-inspired styles and you're closer to the mark.

Kate Nash went pink in preparation for Coachella - but isn't colouring your hair before you head out into the sun supposed to be a bad idea? Neverthless, this is a bold hue for a bold gal and I love her coordinating outfit.

Does Jourdan Dunn have off days? Unlikely. A braid and bandana is classic festival stuff, but Jourdan somehow makes it look cooler than anybody else. Is it in the bandana placement? The side parting? The colour? Who knows. All I know is that I'd look like Axl Rose on holiday if I attempted this.

Audrina Patridge reveals just how she manages to look so pristine at Coachella - a makeup mirror, tongs of varying sizes and a stash of dry shampoo. Easy.

Curls are Beyonce's go-to summer look - who can forget
that Glastonbury mane? Ahead of
her surprise performance with sister Solange, Bey was spotted with bouncy blonde curls and a hat backstage. All the better for dancing with, definitely.

Ellie Goulding relaxed with Rita Ora backtsage - and it was matching long blonde waves for these BFFS. Where does one weave start and the other start?

What's a festival without a floral crown? Emmy Rossum took her yellow number out for a spin on a swan, demonstrating that accessorising is definitely a DO when you're poolside - as long as you have a large inflatable to protect you.

It's a supermodel selfie, so no wonder Frida Gustavsson Barbara Palvin look so amazing. Another floral crown (well, this is Coachella) and tousled matte waves make for a typically pretty, boho hair look. Love Frida's little braid too.

Lea Michelle and Katy Perry showcased two very different takes on ombré colour as they relaxed backstage. Caramel and couture for Lea, green and grungy for Katy. Doesn't she blend into those leaves nicely?

And it's not just Katy who's rocking green hair at the moment... Kylie Jenner updated her dip-dyed lengths with a minty green hue - which she totally pulls off.

And it doesn't stop there for the green gals. Artist/designer/socilatite type Langley Fox Hemingway also sported green lengths, this time opting for a more jade-tinted hue.

Poppy Delevingne celebrated her hen 'do at Coachella, so I was slightly disappointed to see her style looking so restrained. Sure, there's a flower crown, but otherwise it's just Poppy hair as usual. Needless to say, she looks completely beautiful - but a hen do AND Coachella is surely an excuse for something a little more madcap?

Demonstrating yet another hairstyle for the weekend - and proving why Chris Appleton is just such a fabulous hairdresser - Rita rocked multiple braids en route to the festival. Love the snaking shapes and pastel hues.

Only Rosie Huntington Whiteley could look this immaculate at a festival.
When's her hairdresser's salon opening again?

Vanessa Hudgens undertook a bit of a transformation this weekend, enhancing her brunette midi style with long blonde extensions. 'Mermaid hair!' she tweeted. We can't help but agree.

Whitney Port has perhaps been studying LC's beauty blog with this intricate waterfall braid. Pretty it may be, but at least this is one style that we can actually believe she did herself - and that we could manage.
