Cannes 2011: ponytails a supermodel staple

Ponytails are something of a summer staple and at Cannes this season the effortless updo has been given the supermodel seal of approval with both Bar Refaeli and Karolina Kurkova sporting the simple style.
The beauty of this trend is that it can be worn in a wide variety of ways, and this week both models made the look their own by personalising the pony.
Bar (above) styled the lengths of her ponytail in to polished waves, adding a groomed gloss to the look. Her hair is gently smoothed back from the face for a look that's more soft than sleek.

Karolina Kurkova opted for more contrast with her look, combining a slicked-back sleek finish with a textured ponytail with a slightly fluffy feel. The base of the pony was dressed up with a tight plait, wrapped around the band.
