Katie Price | Myleene Klass | Victoria Beckham |
Avant garde guru Robert Masciave from Metropolis Hairdressing in Kingston gives his verdict on the British stars who received a much-coveted invite to the Oscars red carpet.
Katie Price
"Katie's big tumbling waves and side swept fringe is a classic red carpet hair style. It's sexy, playful and slightly un-done for an effortless chic look. Although Kate looks stunning with a darker colour tone I'd opt for a rich chocolate shade to for a softer look."
Myleene Klass
"Myleene can do no wrong! She's effortlessly beautiful and her long glossy locks is styled simply with loose tumbling waves swept over one shoulder in a care free manner. The glints of red tones at the ends of her hair adds warmth to her flawless olive complexion. A red carpet stunner!"
Victoria Beckham
"I'm not keen on this slicked back look on Victoria. It's too severe, causing her to look more gaunt than usual. A hair accessory or feathered headband would've added a touch of glamour to this drab style."

Meryl Streep | Joan Collins | Sophia Loren |
Clive Johnston from Clive Alexander casts his expert eye over the more mature stars strutting their stuff on the red carpet at the Oscars.
Meryl Streep
"Perhaps it wouldn't be fair to judge Meryl Streep from this picture because I'm hoping the back of her head looks better than the front! With her high forehead and wide features, Meryl should've opted for a side sweeping fringe to soften her round face shape. The back combed up do looks too severe and does nothing to accentuate her gorgeous high cheek bones."
Joan Collins
"Joan Collins red carpet hair is chic, ultra glam and very feminine. Rather than going for the latest hair trend, Joan opts for a timeless look to compliment her style and age. Her shoulder length flicks with the caramel high-lights creates a youthful appearance without the danger of 'mutton dressed as lamb'. The only thing I'd do to bring her look forward into 2009 (and out of the 80's!) is take some of the weight out of her hair to make it look less 'wiggy'. I'd also like to see her with an up-do for a change."
Sophia Loren
"Words have lost me....What has happened to the beautiful Sophie? She must have fell out with her stylist for them to create this hair horror. Where shall I start? The curls look as if they haven't been combed through, the colour of Sophie's hair is too bright and bold for her aged skin and quite simply it looks as though she's wearing a cheap rug on her head. Sophie needs to take a leaf out of Joan's book on how to grow old gracefully."
