The survey, carried out by retailer Fabriah.com, asked 500 women how long they spent every day washing, drying and styling their hair.
On average, those questioned said that washing and conditioning their hair took ten minutes, with blow-drying and straightening adding 15 minutes each.
However not everyone is so dedicated to their grooming regime, with 12% admitting that they only brushed their hair once in the morning and 5% revealing that they opt for an updo rather than washing their locks every day.
The research also revealed that 30% used conditioning treatments regularly - on average, once a fortnight.
Hairdressers will also be pleased to hear that 14% of those polled said that they preferred a trip to the salon for special occasion hair, rather than risking styling it themselves.
Francesca Davies from Fabriah said: "For most women their hair really is their crowning glory so it's no surprise they want it to look gorgeous all the time. If you have a good, regular cut then keeping your hair in tip top condition shouldn't be too difficult.
"We do all have those days when we simply can't be bothered - and there's nothing wrong with tying your hair up or sticking a hat or scarf around it and giving you and your hair a day off."
