Tim-british-nominee.jpgAs a child, Tim Hartley grew up to believe all good things come to those who wait. And, with his first nomination for HJ's British Hairdresser of the Year, he hopes he won't be waiting too long before he wins the accolade.

"People didn't think of nominating me when I was at Sassoon, but it was always something I kept my eye on and hoped one day to receive. I'm delighted I've been nominated this year," he says.

Tim started hairdressing more than 30 years ago and, for the past six years, has been busy building the Tim Hartley brand. "My signature is to blur the boundaries between precision and fashion, while the classics run equally alongside the new. I feel I am always evolving with new variations, and always push the boundaries."

Tim believes it is this standard of hair and his constant contribution to the industry that led to him receiving his debut nomination.

So, what's the favourite part of his job? "It has to be working on seasonal photographic collections with like-minded people. I get great satisfaction from my job as well as through education, but when I am working with a team that shares my vision, great results can be achieved."

Tim has barely stopped this year, with seminars, shoots and shows around the world. "This year has been one of my busiest so far. My life is changing in many ways and my work defines me. I'm very lucky to be in a situation that allows me to do so many varied things with different people.

"My work has always been my main focus and will continue to be as it has always been my best friend. However, love and beauty are also important to me - we must never lose our joie de vivre!"
