British hairdresser of the year nominee: mark hayes

Mark Hayes discovered his interest in style, visual art, music and design were paramount in one career - hairdressing.

Now, 33 years on, he feels his chosen career has exceeded his expectations, and he has enjoyed an incredible, creative journey. "I have travelled the world enjoying amazing experiences and worked with so many creative, talented people," he says.

Being nominated for HJ's British Hairdresser of the Year has been one of his highlights. "I feel humbled that people in the industry hold me in such high regard.

"It would be an honour for me to embrace the responsibility that comes with winning the award and follow in the footsteps of many other UK hairdressing icons."

Mark has the job of his dreams and has worked his way up from assistant to international creative director.

So, what does the future hold? "I want to continue to innovate for a company that I love, and with a team that continually amazes me with its ingenuity and creativity. Sassoon and my family are the most important things in my life. Oh, and Tottenham Hotspur, of course!"
