Sam Burnett and the KMS California team created bound ponytails inspired by the restraint of ballerinas for the Bora Aksu Spring/Summer 2015 show.
The show: Bora Aksu Spring/Summer 2015
The hair team: Sam Burnett for KMS California
The look: A side ponytail wrapped with black leather binding to create a stiff, bending shape.
The inspiration: The collection was inspired by Marie Taglioni - the first pointe ballerina, who was told she'd never make it but learnt herself and went on to make it. The strictness and restriction of pointe dancing and ballet served as the inspiration.
The key product: KMS California ADDVOLUME Volumizing Spray
Get the Look
1. Apply ADDVOLUME Volumizing Spray through damp hair to add texture and body.
2. Blow-dry on a low heat. Twist sections as you dry to create loose waves and second-day texture.
3. Part hair to the side and allow the larger front section to fall over the face.
4. Create a low side ponytail on the heavier side of the parting. Secure just below the ear.
5. Wrap the ponytail with a length of black haberdashery elastic, starting at the top and working 3/4 down. Tie tightly and cut off the ends.
6. Spritz more ADDVOLUME on the end of the ponytail to add messy texture.
7. Finish with HAIRSTAY Medium Hold Spray. Smooth down any flyways with your hand.
