Best celebrity hairstyles of 2012: june

Summer doesn't mean slowing down on style; with festivals dominating the calendar throughout June and July there's a host of musical stars to inspire, as well as the A-listers who make camping look glamorous.

This year also saw the Queen's Jubilee celebrated, with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge embracing her role as a style icon throughout the celebrations. It's no wonder that her hair remains the most-wanted celebrity style of all!

Here, we take a look back at the celebrity hairstyles, cuts and colours that made the most impact in June 2012.

Florence Welch

Single-handedly making red hair super-cool for the last couple of years, Florence showed no sign of switching up her trademark hue in 2012.

This summer did see her change her shade slightly, though, with her lighter auburn shade heralding the start of a summer full of coppery copycats.

Proving that red isn't a one-shade-fits-all option, Florence has given the hue a run for its money with a host of variations on the theme.

Look to love: Florence bought her bohemian couture to East London this June with a star set at the Radio 1 Weekend in Hackney. Her couture Julien Macdonald dress was perfectly matched with tousled curls and a sweeping fringe, in that statement shade of auburn.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has fast become a style icon for our times and her crowning glory of thick, brunette hair is as much a staple of her look as her chic suits and tasteful dresses.

Throughout the Queen's Jubilee weekend, Catherine wore a series of stylish hats but that didn't stop her showing off her locks too.

And there's no such thing as hat hair for Catherine, who showed off her perfectly blow-dried and tonged lengths under a series of stylish headpieces.

Her trademark half-up, half-down style provides not just a secure base for any headpiece, but also offers an elegant style i f and when the hat comes off.

Look to love: Catherine complemented her James Locke & Co headpiece with wavy lengths and a half-up style for the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant - fighting the elements in trademark style.

Anne Hathaway

When Anne Hathaway took on the role of prostitute, Fantine, in the upcoming film remake of Les Miserables she shocked style-watchers with her closely cropped hair. Not a wig for Anne, but rather the real deal.

And as the role requires her to look as though she cropped her hair off in a desperate bid to raise money, it wasn't even a particularly flattering crop.

However when she was next spotted out on the red carpet, the cut looked better than we could have expected - neatened up and finished with texturising products for an elegant, gamine look.

We're used to seeing Anne with long, thick brunette lengths so it's great to see her styling out this crop - we can't wait to see what she does with it as it grows out!

Look to love: Anne gave her crop its debut at a Stella McCartney event in June - matched with a white blazer and bold sunglasses, this is the perfect way to make a statement with a new boyish look.
